Comments on: Street Food Contraptions https://kk.org/streetuse/street-food-contraptions/ This site features the ways in which people modify and re-create technology. Herein a collection of personal modifications, folk innovations, street customization, ad hoc alterations, wear-patterns, home-made versions and indigenous ingenuity. In short -- stuff as it is actually used, and not how its creators planned on it being used. As William Gibson said, "The street finds its own uses for things." I welcome suggestions of links, and contributions from others to include in this compendium. -- KK Tue, 16 Jun 2009 10:43:29 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.9.12 By: Martin https://kk.org/streetuse/street-food-contraptions/#comment-63514 Mon, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 #comment-63514 http://ciudadmontevideo.olx.com.uy/medio-tanque-parrillero-iid-15962673

Take a look at these grills, they are very popular in Uruguay. They are made from halved steel drums. (They are called “medio tanque” because of that).

Although they aren’t mobile, you run across lots of these on street corners on a nice day.

I’ve also had experiences with the world’s healthcare system as a result, which include being taken off an airplane in a stretcher and spending the night in a German hospital.

There’s no moral to this story. But I don’t do that anymore.
